About Us
We started building above ground pools three decades ago for several of the local pool dealers around Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, St Augustine and even Georgia. These companies were Pinch A Penny, Rec Warehouse and even Leslies Pool when they came to Florida. But aside from those dealers there was also a company in the TV Guide that sent work our way. This company sold pools through the TV Guide and shipped them to the freight terminal in Jacksonville or any other city where we picked them up, delivered and installed it for the customer. This seems kind of wild but this was cutting edge before the internet cam along. We kept quite busy working for these dealers and probably installed nearly 300 above ground pools each year across North Florida. That may sound like alot to most people in other areas of this country, but North Florida has a very mild winter climate and you can actually stay quite busy throughout the year doing pool work.
The good news is things are better for those shopping for an above ground pool these days. The internet has arrived and the advantages of modern online shopping are numerous. The selection of goods has grown beyond belief and no longer are you limited to the products that are within driving distance. The lack of pricey road front real estate and other retail expenses allows the online dealers to offer giant savings over the local corner pool stores. Today North Florida residents can purchase the same quality above ground pool for roughly half the money it would have cost 20 years ago from Leslies Pool or Rec Warehouse.
Our above ground pool experience comes specifically from working in Jacksonville and North Florida. Our work here has allowed us to see the effects the Florida environment has on swimming pools and products over time. And now we want to share our findings with the people seeking honest first hand information. Our goal is for this website to bring you more than just a price sheet, or regurgitating some old blog post, it needs to offer something based on real experiences. Most of these upgrades to our site have come along through necessity, as we can no longer keep up with the amount of phone calls we receive. A large portion of calls are for advice on what to buy, where to shop or basic how to questions. This increase in phone calls are due to the growing popularity of above ground pools as well as a spiking increase in population, especially in North Florida.
We still make and receive some phone calls daily but operating bobcats and other machinery make spending much time on calls nearly impossible. We tend to get to the phone at the end of the day.
